Erik W. Niemi, DO
Dr. Niemi is a native Vermonter originally from Burlington. He received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994 on a scholarship from the U.S. Army. Dr. Niemi completed the rest of the medical training in the Army with a Transitional Internship at Madigan Army Medical Center in 1995 and his Eye Surgery residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 2000. He also served as a General Medical Officer for 2 years while stationed in Germany where he was clinic commander in Grafenwoehr. Dr. Niemi served a total of 9 years in the Army, received an Meritorious Service Medal for his service as Clinic Commander and was honorably discharged in 2003.
Dr. Niemi is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been practicing in this area since 2003. He is a diplomate of the American Ophthalmology Society and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He lives in Bennington with his wife and three children.
